Adults are long-lived and can lay eggs over an extended period, so the population can consist of all life stages by late June. Nymphs emerge from the eggs about 1 week after being deposited, after which they develop into adults in 5 to 8 weeks. Overwintering leaffooted bugs can lay over 200 eggs during a two-month period in the spring. Adults are strong flyers that may feed initially on the seeds of winter weeds and later move into gardens, landscapes, and farms in search of early-season fruit and a place to lay eggs. When weather gets warm, typically in March in the San Joaquin Valley and April in the Sacramento Valley, adults disperse to find food sources. Overwintered adults live from September/October until late spring. Cold winters kill many adults, and major outbreaks often occur after mild winters. Leaffooted bugs overwinter as adults, typically in aggregations located in protected areas, such as in woodpiles, barns or other buildings, palm fronds, citrus or juniper trees, under peeling bark, or in tree cracks. ![]() As leaffooted bug nymphs become larger, they can easily be recognized by the development of the leaf-like projection on the hind legs. Nymphs of this beneficial insect have light-colored legs and antennae and hatch from barrel-shaped eggs that are grouped together with a white cone top. Small leaffooted bugs can be confused with nymphs of the assassin bug ( Zelus renardii). Eggs hatch into small nymphs that have dark heads and dark legs on bodies that range in color from orange to reddish-brown. Most egg masses have 10-15 eggs, though more than 50 have been reported. There are three common species of leaffooted bugs that are native to California and the western United States. They are closely related to other sucking insects, such as stink bugs (family Pentatomidae) that can also suck juices from plants. Leaffooted bugs are in the family Coreidae and get their name from the small leaf-like enlargements found on the hind leg. They have piercing-sucking mouthparts that allow them to feed on plant parts, particularly seeds. The pathophysiology underlying IBD is complex and not completely understood. ![]() CD can in contrast affect any part of the GI tract, and is characterized by discontinued inflammation (skip lesions) with transmural inflammation that leads to fibrosis, fistula and strictures, causing symptoms such as chronic abdominal pain, diarrhea, obstruction or perianal lesions ( 2). The inflammation is mostly superficial and complicated by erosions, ulcers and bloody diarrhea with mucinous stool ( 1). In general, UC affects the colon only and spreads continuously from rectum to more proximal colonic segments. Nevertheless, some overlap in clinical and histopathological manifestations can indeed be seen, which can lead to diagnostic doubt and mix-up of the correct diagnosis. UC and CD differs in pathophysiology, affected parts of the gastrointestinal (GI) tract, symptoms, complications and treatment regimens. Both are chronic remittent diseases, with an increasing incidence worldwide, that are causing severe morbidity and reduced quality of life in affected individuals ( 3, 4). Ulcerative colitis (UC) and Crohn’s disease (CD) encompasses the two major forms of IBD ( 1, 2). The histological examination of surgical specimens or endoscopic biopsies is a central element in establishing a diagnosis of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). Received: 12 January 2021 Accepted: 19 March 2021 Published: 30 March 2021. Keywords: Histopathology histological remission histological index Crohn’s disease (CD) ulcerative colitis (UC) Given the growing amount of valid data, it might also be beneficial to systematically include use of histological scoring in daily clinical practice to improve the future management of IBD. For now, systematic assessment of histological activity with an appropriate histological index is a well-established endpoint for evaluation of treatment responses in clinical trials. Recent progress in the usage of proper validated histological indexes to measure and grade the histological activity in endoscopic biopsies, and the systematical evaluation of resection margins in ileal resections specimens in CD, suggest that histological assessment can be utilized as a predictive factor that can guide disease management, also after the diagnosis has been established. Though, the fact that no single finding is truly disease specific can introduce diagnostic doubt and mix-up of the diagnoses. The histopathological features that are characteristic for either UC or CD, have been well-described for decades. The histological examination of endoscopic biopsies or resection specimens after surgery aids in establishing the diagnosis of IBD and plays a central part in distinguishing between the two main entities of IBD, that is ulcerative colitis (UC) and Crohn’s disease (CD). The best place to start is to c ontact us for an audit of your Drupal 8 site which will you give you insight into the level of effort that will be required to upgrade to Drupal 9.On the first day of DrupalCon, an exciting Security Team Panel - D7 End of Life Q&A took place. We are planning and implementing the transition to Drupal 9 for many other organizations. If you are busy or are feeling a little overwhelmed, we can help. The next best time to start planning is today. The best time to start planning is yesterday. Start by making a plan and then start implementing that plan. Or at least you’ve already started planning to do that, right? How do I get started? Upgrading from Drupal 9 to Drupal 10 should be no more complex than upgrading from Drupal 8 to Drupal 9. Thanks to the new minor release schedule, upgrades to new major releases of Drupal no longer require a complicated migration or upgrade process. Read the official page on Drupal 9 support. That might even be fun.īut eventually, you have to deal with the sudden stop at the end. You can even close your eyes and pretend you’re flying. You can go skydiving without a parachute, and you’re technically safe the entire way down. ![]() Is there any wiggle room or grace period that is “safe”? But that distance will grow with every new Drupal 9 release. Right now, Drupal 9 and Drupal 8.9 are still very close to being the same piece of software. The longer you wait to upgrade to Drupal 9, the more effort it will be to accomplish the upgrade. ![]() But your website has been compromised, or it can be compromised at any moment. A vulnerability is discovered by nefarious actors and never announced publicly, and you go on using your Drupal 8 website as if everything is fine. A vulnerability will be discovered, and you will have no way to fix it. Neither the Drupal nor the Symfony communities will be updating the code your website relies upon. Everything might still be secure…for a while. What happens if I don’t upgrade by that time?Įverything will still work…for a while. Read more about the rationale behind the release schedule and chosen dates. The Drupal community has supported Drupal 8.9 as long as possible, but now it is time to move on. Duplicating that effort is not only unattainable but also undesirable. Instead, the community wanted more freedom to focus on what makes Drupal unique.Ī lot of work goes into building and maintaining Symfony. Symfony is used precisely because the Drupal community did not want to maintain certain features common to all websites and content management systems. This is the main reason for the cut-off date.īut wait! Why can’t the Drupal community fork Symfony 3 and maintain that alongside Drupal? Couldn’t we stay on Drupal 8 forever? Supported versions of Drupal must use supported versions of Symfony, which means Drupal must move to a new major version. Symfony 3, the version Drupal 8 uses, reaches EOL in November of 2021, and moving to Symfony 4 would break backward compatibility with previous versions of Drupal 8. Eventually, the whole thing would need to be demolished.ĭrupal 8’s largest dependency is Symfony. The longer it exists, the more the foundations crack. The longer it exists, the more fragile it becomes. This leaves Drupal 8 in a precarious position. Eventually, the older version of the dependency will stop being supported by the authors. Why November 2, 2021?ĭrupal 8 has many third-party dependencies, and if one of these dependencies updates to break backward compatibility with previous versions of Drupal 8, then Drupal 8 cannot update that dependency. It is better to upgrade on your own terms rather than scrambling at the last minute. Right now is the easiest it will ever be. Audit your site for Drupal 9 readiness and s tart planning your roadmap now. ![]() The good news is that you can avoid being left in the lurch. And with such a mission-critical piece of software, you do not want to be on your own. There is also no extended support for Drupal 8 like there will be for Drupal 7. So to find out what the Lightning is like in the real world - where long drives are a regular part of life - I took it for an 800-mile journey from New York City to Vermont and back again over the course of three days. Still, to mangle a metaphor, the proof of the pudding is in the driving. The first round of reviews - including our own Tyler Duffy's - all but sang the praises of the pickup, and demand amongst buyers has exceeded Ford's initial expectations trucks last an average of just eight days on dealer lots, and FoMoCo has already had to ramp up production targets from 40,000 Lightnings a year to 150,000 in order to handle the backlog of more than 200,000 reservations.
